The purpose of this intensive FAQ Level 3 Award for Immediate Response Emergency Care: Emergency First Responder (RQF) IREC® is to provide first responders with the skills, knowledge and understanding to provide the appropriate life-saving care to a casualty prior to the arrival of an ambulance.
The Immediate Life Support course aligns with the Skills for Health UK Core Skills Training Framework (UK-CSTF). The aim is to provide a higher level of theory and practical training for healthcare personnel in immediate life support (BLS/CPR/AED) and medical emergencies as required by the GDC.

The First Aid at Work (FAW) Level 3 qualification is suitable for people who might need to respond to a wide range of accidents, injuries and illnesses that they could come across in their workplace. It is an ideal course for large organisations and businesses whose risk assessment has identified that they require a fully trained first aider for their workplace.
Requalification is required every 3 years after completion of the First Aid at Work (FAW) course. This course is set over a two day period with a minimum contact time of 12 hours. In order to do this course, you must have a copy of your original FAW certificate. If your FAW certificate expired more than 28 days ago you will need to re-do the full 3 day FAW course.
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) level 3 qualification is a popular training option which covers common injuries and illnesses. It is ideal for small to medium-sized organisations, low risk industries, people who require the qualification for freelance work as well as members of the general public who want the reassurance that they know how to deal with a first aid situation should it arise at home or out and about.
The Paediatric First Aid (PFA) level 3 qualification is designed specifically for people who look after babies and children, including child minders, crèche leaders, nannies, au pairs, nursery and pre-school workers, teachers and teaching assistants, and sport and leisure staff. It provides theoretical and practical training in first aid techniques that are specific to infants aged 0 to 1 and children aged from 1 to 18 years old.

After 12 months, it is recommended that you attend a half-day* course to refresh your first aid skills.
