Course Information

Outdoor Pursuits First Aid 16-Hour Level 3 (VTQ)

The Outdoor Pursuits First Aid 16-Hour course is an ideal first aid course for outdoor activity instructors, teachers or leaders and outdoor learning specialists operating in situations where a number of hazards may be present or help may be up to a few hours away. This includes: water sports instructors and sailing, kayaking and canoeing leaders, as well as mountain leaders, outdoor pursuits instructors and students, SCUBA instructors, Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) assessors, bush craft instructors, forest school leaders and anyone who enjoys hiking, cycling and climbing in the great outdoors.

The Outdoor Pursuits 16-Hour First Aid course is aligned with the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) Statement of Good Practice on Outdoor First Aid at Band 3. It meets the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.

Spaces on the Outdoor Pursuits First Aid course are limited to a maximum of 12 people. A hands-on approach ensures that attendees learn first aid skills and have the confidence to use them in a real life situation. Learners are assessed throughout the course on their practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions and quizzes.

Day-1 of this course is also the Outdoor Pursuits 8-Hour First Aid course and these two courses may be combined should there be a mix of attendees needing the 1-day and 2-day course.

For those attendees working in an environment where there is a need to also hold an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, an Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification, or a Forest Schools First Aid (16-Hour) qualification, these can be incorporated into the curriculum.  If you would also like to gain one or more of these extra qualifications, there is an additional fee of £15 per attendee. Please request this at the time of booking.
