Course Information
Paediatric First Aid Level 3 (RQF) – PFA
The Paediatric First Aid (RQF) course equips you with essential theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training tailored to the needs of infants (0–1 year) and children (1–18 years). This course ensures you have the skills and confidence to respond effectively in paediatric first aid situations, giving you peace of mind when caring for children. For those providers whose activities are covered by the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, this course will ensure you meet those standards as well as the Department for Education’s requirements.
The Paediatric First Aid course is a regulated 2-day course which meets the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.
Spaces on the Paediatric First Aid course are limited to a maximum of 12 people. A hands-on approach ensures that attendees learn first aid skills and have the confidence to use them in a real life situation. Learners are assessed throughout the course on their practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions and quizzes.
There is the option of combining the Paediatric First Aid course with an Outdoor Pursuits First Aid 16-Hour Level 3 (VTQ) course or a Forest Schools 16-Hour First Aid Level 3 (VTQ) course. The Forest School Association (FAS) recommends that Forest School Practitioners’ First Aid qualifications are aligned with the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) Statement of Good Practice on Outdoor First Aid at Band 3.
We understand that releasing employees from their duties for a full first aid course can sometimes be challenging. We also offer a flexible blended Paediatric First Aid course. Attendees complete approximately 6-hours of online training at their own pace, gaining essential knowledge before joining a 1-day practical course with an experienced instructor. This approach ensures that attendees not only build a strong foundation but also get hands-on experience to develop confidence and competence in their first aid skills. Online training modules are available for £25.00 each (£30.00 incl. VAT). The practical session is priced the same as our 1-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course.

On successful completion of either the traditional or blended course, attendees will receive an accredited Paediatric First Aid (RQF) certificate which is valid for three years. An annual Paediatric Refresher Course is highly recommended. To renew this qualification, you will need to attend a further Paediatric First Aid course.
Attendees completing our Paediatric First Aid courses receive access to a video library for refreshing skills and reference through ProTrainings.
