Meet Our Team

Our small team is made up of passionate, experienced people who love delivering first aid training in Devon and Cornwall, helping others learn and practise essential skills so they finish their course feeling confident.

Sam Peacock

Owner

As the organiser behind the scenes, I manage all course enquiries, bookings, registrations, equipment orders, paperwork, and certificate dispatches. I work closely with Laurence, Alan, and Mark to ensure everything runs smoothly for every first aid course we deliver across Devon, Cornwall and the wider South West.

After leaving my role as a primary school teacher, I’m now proud to run White Cross Training from home while raising our two wonderful girls. For me, it’s the best of both worlds — supporting people to learn life-saving skills while being there for my family. I believe in delivering superb customer service that’s flexible, inclusive, and accessible. Whether you’re an individual, family, school or business, I’ll always do my best to respond quickly and help you get things organised with ease.

Laurence Peacock

Owner | First Aid Instructor

I’ve been delivering first aid training since 2010 and have taught hands-on, practical courses to families, schools, community groups, and businesses of all sizes across Devon, Cornwall and the South West. My sessions are relaxed, engaging and designed to build confidence — with a strong focus on relevant, tailored, high-quality learning.

Alongside teaching, I also provide medical cover at public events, which keeps my skills sharp and ensures the training I deliver is grounded in real-life experience. I use the latest training equipment to give learners a realistic and effective experience, helping them feel prepared and capable in an emergency. I believe first aid training should always be warm, friendly and empathetic — creating a supportive environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and developing life-saving skills.

Alan Penn

First Aid Instructor

I’ve been involved in first aid for over 30 years, including time as a First Responder and as a trainer with Sussex Police. I now deliver first aid courses across Devon and Cornwall with White Cross Training, making them as practical, relaxed and engaging as possible. My goal is to give people real confidence in their ability to respond in an emergency — especially in outdoor and remote settings. First aid is a vital life skill, and I love helping others feel ready to step in when it counts.

Mark Pickering

First Aid Instructor

I’ve taught first aid for over 20 years alongside volunteering with Dartmoor Search and Rescue and working in a Plymouth primary school. I believe people learn best through doing — so my courses are hands-on, fun and memorable. I want everyone to leave feeling more confident and capable of helping in an emergency. First aid training saves lives, and I’m proud to be part of that, helping people across Devon and Cornwall build the skills they need to keep others safe.
