Course Information
Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (RQF) – EFAW
The Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) course is ideal for small to medium-sized organisations, low risk industries, people who require the qualification for freelance work as well as members of the general public who want the reassurance that they know how to deal with a first aid situation should it arise at home or out and about.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course is a regulated course with at least 6 contact hours, usually run over 1 day*. The course meets the guidelines and requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981 and subsequent changes made in 2016. It meets the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.
There is also the option of completing an Emergency First Aid at Work – High Risk course, which is ideal for businesses whose risk assessment has identified a high risk of excessive bleeding accidents. This version of the EFAW course covers training in the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings.
Spaces on our Emergency First Aid at Work courses are limited to a maximum of 12 people. A hands-on approach ensures that attendees learn first aid skills and have the confidence to use them in a real life situation. Learners are assessed throughout the course on their practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions and quizzes.
*Studying with an instructor is always going to result in deeper and more memorable learning. However, there are circumstances where the release of employees from their normal duties to undertake a first aid course is complicated or even impossible. White Cross Training can offer a blended Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) course whereby attendees do some of their learning online, prior to the hands-on session with their instructor. The online study time is usually about 2-hours. This is followed by 4-hours with an instructor where learners are able to practise their first aid skills and demonstrate their competence.
On successful completion of either the traditional or blended course, attendees will receive an accredited Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) certificate which is valid for three years. An annual EFAW refresher course is highly recommended. To renew your qualification, you will need to attend a further Emergency First Aid at Work course.
Attendees completing our EFAW courses receive access to a video library for refreshing skills and reference through ProTrainings.
