Course Information

Outdoor Pursuits First Aid 8-Hour Level 3 (VTQ)

The Outdoor Pursuits First Aid 8-Hour course is an ideal first aid course for outdoor activity instructors, teachers or leaders operating in locations with close access to further support. This includes: activity instructors, sports coaches, teachers, forest school leaders and anyone who enjoys hiking, cycling and climbing in the great outdoors.

The Outdoor Pursuits First Aid 8-Hour course is aligned with the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) Statement of Good Practice on Outdoor First Aid at Band 2. It meets the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.

Spaces on the Outdoor Pursuits First Aid course are limited to a maximum of 12 people. A hands-on approach ensures that attendees learn first aid skills and have the confidence to use them in a real life situation. Learners are assessed throughout the course on their practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions and quizzes.

This course is also day-1 of the Outdoor Pursuits 16-Hour First Aid course and these two courses may be combined should there be a mix of attendees needing the 1-day and 2-day course.

For those attendees working in an environment where there is a need to also hold a Workplace First Aid qualification, this can be incorporated into the curriculum.  If you would like to also gain an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate, there is an additional fee of £15 per attendee for this optional qualification. Please request this at the time of booking.

On successful completion of the course, attendees will receive a certified Outdoor Pursuits 8-Hour First Aid Level 3 (VTQ) certificate which is valid for three years. An annual Outdoor Pursuits First Aid Refresher Course is highly recommended. To renew, you will need to attend a further 1-day Outdoor Pursuits First Aid course.

Attendees completing our Outdoor Pursuits First Aid courses receive access to a video library for refreshing skills and reference through ProTrainings.
