Train in Plymouth or at Your Workplace with the IREC® Blended Course

We offer the Immediate Responder Emergency Care (RQF) IREC® course as a blended programme. This means you’ll complete an online module (approximately 14 hours) in your own time, followed by a 3-day practical course delivered by an approved instructor.

The IREC® course is a regulated qualification, meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and delivered in line with current HSE guidance. It also follows the latest Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines.

This qualification has been developed following national reviews into major incidents, highlighting the importance of early intervention using the three Ps: preserving life, preventing deterioration, and promoting recovery.

It is designed for those working, or looking to work, within the events and security industries, and meets the staffing recommendations set out in the ‘Purple Guide’ for health, safety and welfare at events. The course also aligns with standards agreed by the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF).

The qualification sits at Category D on the FPHC PHEM Skills Framework, recognising learners as trained non-healthcare professionals providing pre-hospital care as part of a wider role, such as event staff, security teams, or community responders.

Spaces on IREC® courses are limited. A hands-on approach ensures that attendees learn first aid skills and have the confidence to use them in a real life situation. Learners are assessed throughout the course on their practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions and a final exam.

What better place to attend the 3-day practical course than in Plymouth, a vibrant waterfront city!  Whilst here, why not visit some of the country’s most envied beaches and explore some of the South West Coast Path? Just on the edge of Plymouth, you’ll also find one of the finest and largest national parks in Britain – Dartmoor!

Alternatively, we understand the value of training within your own working environment. White Cross Training can deliver an IREC® course directly at your workplace. This allows us to tailor the training to your specific industry, potential hazards, and unique operational challenges. By conducting the course on-site, we can simulate realistic scenarios relevant to your team’s day-to-day activities, ensuring a highly practical and impactful learning experience. This tailored approach maximises the relevance of the training and equips your team with the confidence to respond effectively to emergencies within their familiar surroundings.

On successful completion of the IREC® course, attendees will receive an accredited FAQ Level 3 Award for Immediate Response Emergency Care (RQF) qualification which is valid for three years. An annual IREC® refresher course is highly recommended.

Attendees completing an IREC® course with us receive access to an online manual and video library for refreshing skills and reference through ProTrainings.
